Cheer Star Programs:
Pee Wee Cheer 1: This class is for students ages 5 to 8. Concentration will be on learning correct techniques for basic cheerleading skills. Students will learn motions through motion drills, games, chants and dances. They will learn basic cheerleading jumps. Tumbling skills will include handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, back bends and back-handspring drills. Pee Wee Cheer 2: After successfully performing cheerleading motions and jumps, as well as handstands and cartwheels, students will progress to this level. Additional jumps and motions will be taught. Tumbling skills will include round-offs, back bends and back handspring drills. Jumping Star Cheer: This class is for students ages 9 and up who have never cheered or tumbled. Concentration will be on learning correct techniques for basic cheerleading skills. Students will learn motions through motion drills, games, chants and dances. They will practice jumps, beginning with the varsity and moving to the herkie. Tumbling skills will include handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and back handspring drills. Future Star Cheer: After successfully performing back bends and round-offs, students will advance to this class. Instruction will continue to perfect their motions and jumps, and basic tumbling skills will be practiced. Students will learn to add jumps before and after the back handspring and they will also learn round-off back handspring. Rising Star Cheer: When students are able to perform a standing back handspring without a spot, proper arm placement in motions and the correct technique in their varsity jump, they will advance to this level. Students will learn to add jumps before and after the back handspring, and they will also learn round-off back handsprings. Tumble for Cheer Classes:
Tumble for Cheer 1: This class is for students ages 9 and up. This is a basic tumbling class. Students will work skills beginning with handstands and cartwheels, and progressing through round-offs, back-bends, back handspring drills and finally back handsprings. Students will also focus on the strength and flexibility necessary to safely learn back handsprings. Tumble for Cheer 2: When students are able to perform a standing back handspring without a spot they will advance to this level. This class will focus on the round-off back handspring. Tumble for Cheer 3: When students are able to perform a round-off back handspring standing back handspring without a spot they will advance to this level. This class will focus on multiple back handsprings and back tucks. Twisting for Cheer: When students are able to somersault without a spot they are ready to advance to the twisting class where they work on layouts and a full-twist. |
