Buckeye Gymnastics fields one of the largest and most successful competitive teams in the Midwest. Buckeye Gymnastics has won more team and individual State titles than any other team in Ohio, has sent more gymnasts to the National Championships over the past 25 years than any other team in the Midwest, and has developed 36 athletes who have earned full college scholarships. But mostly we have fun, train hard, and do our best to land on our feet. Participation within our team program is determined through an audition process. It is not that we want to eliminate anyone who wants to participate, it is that we want the children who do participate to have the skills, strength, attitude, and supportive parents that will allow them to succeed in this difficult sport. To that end we have some specific skills and physical abilities that are required for entry into our team program. In addition, the children must display a willingness to learn and parents must be supportive of those efforts and of the coaches and the gym. Competition Levels Offered at Buckeye Gymnastics: ELITE: This is the top Level in gymnastics. Only 002% of all gymnasts compete at this Level. Gymnasts compete up to the National and International Level and represent the USA in most international competitions including the Olympics. Level 10: This is the advanced optional only Level. Gymnasts compete at local, state, regional, and national Levels. LEVEL 9: This is an optional only Level. Competition at local, state, regionals, and at Eastern Nationals. LEVEL 8: This is the beginning optional Level. There are restrictions on difficulty. Competition at the local, state, and regional Levels. LEVEL 7: This is a compulsory/optional Level. The gymnasts create their own routines but must include certain compulsory elements. LEVEL 6: This is a compulsory only Level. That is, all the gymnasts compete the exact same routines which are designed to develop required skills and technique. LEVEL 5: This is a beginning competition Level; compulsory only. These routines are simplified versions of the Level 6 routines. LEVEL 4: This is the entry Level for gymnastics competition on the Buckeye Girl’s team with compulsory routines on all four events. Level 3: This is a pre-team and recreation team level at Buckeye. Level 2: This is the entry level pre-team level at Buckeye and for the entire USA Gymnastics competition program. HOPES: This is a system implemented under the direction of the Elite Program Committee of USA Gymnastics used to identify and further the development of exceptionally talented young gymnasts. BUCKS TO BE: This was the pre-team level at Buckeye but it has been replaced starting this year with Mini-Stars, Level 2, and Level 3 all designed to get the gymnasts ready for the formal competitive program. |
