Welcome to Buckeye Gymnastics - Trampoline & Tumbling

Trampoline and Tumbling (TNT) competition is the fastest growing discipline within USA Gymnastics. This fun sport is growing by “leaps and bounds” or should we say by “handsprings and flips”. However you say it, TNT is a blast.

Trampoline competition is governed by USA Gymnastics and includes not only trampoline but also power tumbling and double mini-tramp. These three events are contested within the state of Ohio, throughout the region, nationally, and internationally. Trampoline is an Olympic sport and Tumbling is expected to be introduced to Olympic competition by 2012.

The Buckeye Flyers is open to both girls and boys from the beginning through advanced levels at our Powell gym. Audition required.

Little Bouncers (4 to 6 years old): entry level younger kids;

Bouncers (7 - 10 years old): entry level older athletes;

High Flyers (8 and up): school age with experience;

Extreme Flyers: Determined by coaches from High Flyers;

Jump Start (7-12): National developmental program designed to develop the strength, flexibility, and basic skills necessary for future success as a competitive athlete within the trampoline and tumbling program. Requires audition.

Participation on the Flyers is determined through an audition process. It is not that we want to eliminate anyone who wants to participate, it is that we want the girls and boys who do participate to have the skills, aptitude, attitude, and supportive parents that will allow them to succeed as a member of a competitive TNT team. You need to attend the audition or make special arrangements with the head coach.

Saturday, June 7, 12:00 noon

Practice/Trial Period begins the week of July 7.

Tumbling Camps

Back Handspring Boot Camp: offered through our cheer program but open to everyone working on this key skill.

Westerville: June 30- July 4, 1:00-4:00, Stars and Stripes theme week, march and tumble in the 4th of July parade in Westerville.

Hot Shot Tumbling: offered through our cheer program but open to everyone working on this key skill. The camp is for the advanced tumbler who is ready to move beyond back handsprings. This camp will focus on back somersaulting skills through double twists.

Trampoline and Tumbling Camps: Powell Gym Only. The focus of the camp is on trampoline, tumbling, and double-mini trampoline from beginner through advanced, boys and girls.
