Student Status, Enrollment, Gym Closing
Current Students
Current students are automatically re-enrolled for the same class every four weeks. When a student advances to a higher level it may be necessary to change the day and time. When this occurs please contact the front desk to make those changes. Please contact us provide as far in advance as possible for any changes you might want to make because placement among current students is on a first come basis.
New Students
Full payment is required for registration. Your payment is 100% refundable if we cannot place you in a class of your choice. Assume that you were placed in your first choice unless you hear from us. We offer many classes at many times throughout the week so we should have a class available for you.
Joining a class after the term has commenced
No problem as long as there is room.
Dropping a class/ Missed classes
There are no prorated refunds or credits for missed classes or for dropped classes after the Change Date. Once you have been re-enrolled you are in class for the entire 4 week term. This is true regardless of your attendance.
Changing classes
No problem as long as there is room in the class.
Snow, Weather and Emergency Closing policy
If there is anything going on that would cause you to question whether we are open or not, call the gym for a live or recorded message or go to buckeyegymnastics.com for a special notice.
NOTE: We do not base our decisions on weather related closings on what local school systems might do. A Level 3 Snow Emergency for Delaware County closes the gym.
Unlimited Make-ups
Buckeye Gymnastics Make-up Policy
We offer unlimited make-ups to currently enrolled students. We do not offer make ups to students who are not currently enrolled.
We will make every effort to provide a make-up in a class at your level. In the event that we are not able to do so we will provide an Open Gym Pass in place of the scheduled make-up.
There are some classes that are so advanced or specialized that we only offer one class a week. In order to make up a missed class you will need to take the make up in a closely related class, or schedule the make-up at the other gym, or make use of an Open Gym Pass.
You need to make up a missed class during the term during which you missed the class or during the following four week period.
Advancement and Placement
Buckeye Bears Preschool Gymnastics
Our preschool gymnastics students are enrolled in class based on their age. As your children "age out" of their current level they will need to register for the next class in the progression. Please stop by the front desk so we can assist you.
Buckeye Stars School-Age Gymnastics for Girls and Boys
School age students in gymnastics, tumbling and trampoline, and cheerleading advance based on skill level. Your teacher will continually evaluate your progress and will provide a detailed evaluation in December, April, and June. Once you have mastered the skills at your current level you will advance to the next level class. We offer many class levels at the same time or close to the same time during the week. It is likely that you can advance and still continue to take class at the same day and time.
Buckeye Star- Notice of Advancement
Once you have received a Buckeye Star you will want to schedule class at your new level. Please come by the front desk or call the gym and we will help you schedule this advancement.
New Students
Preschool students are placed in class based on their age.
New school-age students will be placed in the most beginning level class unless they have prior experience with gymnastics. If this is the case, please call the gym and schedule an evaluation with one of our teachers so that we can place you in the right class.
Special Programs
Open Gym
In order to get better it is important to practice. That is why we offer an Open Gym every Friday night at both gyms. During this time the children can practice what they have worked on in class with teachers on hand to keep things safe and to provide some help when needed. BCE offers an additional Open Gym on Mondays for the cheerleaders.
FLIP Meets
Twice a year we will offer a gymnastics “competition” for our Buckeye Stars. The kids will compete on the Olympic events plus trampoline. They will receive ribbons and awards with hugs and fun for all.
Summer Day Camp
Our day camps are one our most popular programs. We offer these day camps during the summer for girls, boys and preschool students. The schedule for day camp will be published in February.
Birthday Parties
Birthday parties are offered at both the Powell and Westerville gyms. These parties are special, fun, and high-energy. We offer large inflateables, trampolines, and gym-games followed by traditional cake and presents. Please call the Powell Gym (614-793-1936) or Westerville (614-895-1611) for additional information and scheduling.
Scarlet and Grey Team
Buckeye Stars at the Gym Star level are invited to join our recreation team. The girls learn the USA Gymnastics routines at levels 3 through prep-op and then they compete with other gymnasts from across Central Ohio. The competitions are not mandatory, the commitment is for four weeks at a time, and the focus is on fun. Fun? YES! But we still train hard enough to be safe and to do well.
*If you are interested in participating in the S&G Team, please schedule a skill evaluation.
Holiday Camps
During the holiday break we offer plenty of one day mini-camps for all ages.
Lunch Bunch
During the school year, a mini-camp-Lunch Bunch, is offered once a month on Fridays, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. to give preschoolers (ages 3* and up, please) a chance to have lunch with an instructor. The children will have a structured 45-minute gymnastics lesson, bring a sack lunch to eat with a teacher, do more activities and games in the gym and have an ULTIMATE BLAST.
It’s the perfect time for Mom to have a lunch date with her friends.
*Ages 3 and up, must be potty-trained and self-sufficient in the restroom.
Competitive Team Programs
Buckeye Gymnastics offers competitive opportunities for girls and boys. While fewer than 10% of our students participate on team, it remains an important part of our program because it keeps our entire staff up to date on all the latest rules and techniques in the sport and it forces us to support the team with the very latest in equipment and training devices. All of our students benefit from this knowledge and equipment. We conduct auditions for placement on team in the spring. For those students interested in competition without the time and expense required of our USAG team, our Scarlet and Grey Recreational Team is an great alternative! (See S&G information above)
