Angie W.
Buckeye Coach
Angie is a graduate of Big Walnut High School and she has been teaching preschool for almost nine years including three years at the YMCA. She is certified in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse by the State of Ohio. Angie has been teaching at Buckeye for over a decade and is a preschool instructor at our Westerville location.

Girls Team Coach
Chelsea is a former Tumble Bear Director in Powell who has returned to central Ohio and Buckeye after she all but grew up at Buckeye Gymnastics. She started taking classes when she was in elementary school and stayed with us almost ten years. Chelsea competed for Buckeye reaching Level 8. She then competed for Dublin Scioto High School.

Kittia C.
Director, Girls Team
In the 30+ years that Kittia has been coaching at Buckeye her gymnasts have won over 1,000 state, regional, and national titles. She was an elite gymnast herself and a former elite national champion and she attended Arizona State University on a full athletic scholarship. Kittia is also a brevet judge and she has judged the top American athletes at the most important competitions in the country including Championships of the USA and the Olympic Team Trials. In addition, Kittia was elected by the coaches and judges in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana to serve on the Region 5 Board for USA Gymnastics. As Head Coach at Buckeye Kittia coached Gabby Douglas to the 2016 Olympic Team (Team USA Gold) and 2015 World Championships Team (Team Gold, Silver AA) and she has developed both Nia Dennis and Shania Adams both USA National Team members. Buckeye was named the Region 5 Elite Gym of the Year in 2016.

Meredith M.
Girls Team Coach
Meredith is a former standout Buckeye Gymnastics level 10 gymnast who competed nationally for our team. She has coached gymnastics here at Buckeye and in the central Ohio area for many years and we are excited to have her rejoin our girls team staff. In addition to her passion for gymnastics she also has had much success as a personal trainer and fitness competitor.

Buckeye Coach
Coach Emily has been a Buckeye gymnast since she was a preschooler and is a current Level 9 gymnast on our girls competition team. Emily’s love for the sport led her to start coaching here at Buckeye. Her favorite event to coach is bars! She is a birthday party, camp, and special event instructor here at Buckeye.

BCE Coach, Buckeye Coach
Chad cheered for The Ohio State University for four years. He has since been coaching cheer for nearly a quarter of a century! Buckeye was lucky to welcome Chad to the Buckeye Cheer Elite family in 2020. He has always enjoyed teaching, and he especially enjoys stunting.

Sasha T.
Girls Team Coach
Sasha is a former Champion of the USSR and a Master of Sport. He was also the head coach of one of the Soviet Gymnastics Training Centers in Ukraine where he developed national team members and at least one Olympian for the former USSR. Sasha brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Buckeye. He is hard-working with a focus on the development of solid and technically correct basics. Sasha has been coaching the Girls Team at Buckeye for over 20 years and he was part of the Buckeye coaching team that was voted Optional Coaching Staff of the Year in Ohio in 2016.

Girls Team Coach
Gabby grew up at Buckeye Gymnastics starting at age 7 and “graduating” as a high school senior. She competed for Buckeye for 6 years through Level 8. She is currently studying to become a Physical Therapist and discovered that she has the gift of teaching after rejoining us as a gymnastics teacher and coach.

Jill P.
Girls Team Coach
Jill grew up in Westerville and competed for Buckeye from Level 5 (which was the first competitive level back then) through Level 9. She has won individual State Championships on Vault and Floor at multiple levels, was a top 10 finisher at Level 9 Regionals on Vault and was a part of several State Championship teams at multiple levels. Jill also competed for the Westerville North High School gymnastics team and was a member of the Ohio State Club Gymnastics Team before “retiring”.

Lydia S.
Buckeye Coach
Coach Lydia fell in love with gymnastics during her 13 years as a gymnast for the Mount Vernon YMCA. Prior to starting at Buckeye, she had been coaching for four years at The Spotlight Center Dance and Gymnastics. She loves working with kids and her favorite skill to teach is an Aerial. Lydia teaches rec and preschool classes.

Becky D.
Girls Team Coach
Becky has been involved in gymnastics since she was six years old. She was a top performer at Buckeye Gymnastics for seven years as she won many individual state titles and helped the Buckeye team win six State Team titles. She competed at the J.O. National Championships in Dallas and attended WVU on a full athletic scholarship in gymnastics while leading the Lady Mountaineers to four winning seasons. She has been an important component to our coaching staff at Buckeye for many years and she has developed many state, regional and national champions. She was part of the Buckeye coaching team that was voted Optional Coaching Staff of the Year in Ohio in 2016.

Laura M.
Director, Buckeye Gymnastics , Powell
Laura competed in gymnastics for six years and has coached gymnastics at Buckeye for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Capital University, graduating with a degree in Biology and Psychology. Laura attended a six-week internship at Rushmore Gymnastics in London, England, where she shared with our British sister club the details of running an American style gymnastics school.

Stephen D.
Girls Team Coach
Steve is originally from Massachusetts and has been coaching for 22 years with the last several years within Region 5. He brings a wealth of experience and talent as he has coached Level 2 through Elite. Steve is a positive, energetic, and motivating coach as evidenced by his numerous State, Regional and National Champions as well as Elite National Team Members. In his spare time, Steve enjoys playing golf and traveling.

Buckeye Coach
Coach Jade is a current member of our Xcel Diamond competition team. She is a Regional and State Uneven Bar and All-Around Champion, and she also competes for her High School gymnastics team. She has been coaching at Buckeye for two years. And she loves to teach pullovers to her students. She teaches preschool, rec, and tumble for cheer classes.

Ian has been coaching and working birthday parties at Buckeye since 2022. He even did gymnastics himself for a couple of years here at Buckeye when he was younger. Ian loves working with kids, and his favorite event to teach is floor!

Jen has been cheering for most of her life. As a high school student at Somerset Area High School in Somerset, PA, Jen cheered for four years with her school and cheered for an all-star team that placed at UCA Nationals and at Worlds. She then went on to cheer at Slippery Rock University. Jen has worked for several years as an instructor for UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) at various summer camps and competitions.Jen is Director of BCE and Cheer at our Powell location.

Coach Kaylynn was a Buckeye gymnast for 13 years and has recently joined our staff as a preschool instructor. She loves working with children and her favorite skill to teach is a back hip circle on bars.

Becky C.
Girls Team Coach
Becky was already something of a legend in the sport of gymnastics in Ohio before she stepped into the gym as a coach at Buckeye. Becky was the 2012 Horizon Coach of the Year for Region 5 (OH, MI, IL, IN, KY), 2011 Ohio Judge of the Year, and the 2013 Spirit of Team Ohio award winner. She has been coaching some of the best gymnasts in the city, state and region as coach at Universal Gymnasts for over a decade and she was an accomplished gymnast in her own right at Lima Gymnastics. Becky brings over 30 years of gymnastics experience to Buckeye through her competing, judging and coaching and we welcome her to the coaching staff.

Coach Addie is a current Xcel Diamond gymnast on our girls competition team. She also competes for her High School gymnastics team. She has been a gymnast for 13 years and has recently joined our staff as a rec and preschool class instructor. Her favorite skill to perform is a round off layout of the balance beam.

Kate W.
Girls Team Coach
Kate started gymnastics at an early age and is a former optional Buckeye gymnast. She has coached gymnastics in the central Ohio area for several years and we are excited for her to join our girls team staff. Kate loves gymnastics and her goal is “to make sure all kiddos learn skills properly so they can enjoy the sport for as long as they want!” Kate has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University. In addition to her passion for gymnastics she is also a registered yoga teacher and a CrossFit level 1. She has two daughters who will also be joining Buckeye’s competitive girls team.

Justin O.
BCE Coach / Buckeye Coach
Justin is an Ohio University graduate where he was a cheerleader for four years and was a member of the 2001 nationals team that placed 10th at NCA nationals. He has been coaching for over ten years and is currently in his elenth year coaching at BCE. His teams have won several National titles with various companies such as Jamfest, COA, and Cheer Power. He has also coached a BCE Team at the World Championships. He has also worked with several high schools and middle schools in the Columbus area and has judged for various competitions. Justin is NFHS certified, and both First Aid and CPR certified.

Jo M.
Director, Buckeye Gymnastics, Westerville
Jolene, or Coach Jo, as she is known, has been teaching and coaching gymnastics for 18 years. Coach Jo has been a Preschool Gymnastics Program Director and a Head Team Coach for Levels 2-6 during her coaching career. She has developed many Individual State Champions and State Champion Teams. Coach Jo has always had a passion for working with kids thru sports teams and church. She is now our Tumble Bears Preschool Director at Buckeye Gymnastics in our Westerville location.

Avery N.
Buckeye Coach, Girls Team Coach
Avery was a Buckeye Gymnast for 16 years and made it to Level 10! After graduating, Avery wanted to stay involved in gymnastics and was encouraged by her coaches to start coaching as well. As a gymnast, Avery loved doing double tucks, and as a coach she loves teaching pullovers to her gymnasts. Avery says, “Buckeye has made me the person I am today and I love getting to motivate and encourage the next generation!”

Kendra was a cheerleader for 3 years and has been coaching cheer and gymnastics for 2. She is currently studying online to become a special education teacher at Brigham Young. Kendra was hired to coach at Buckeye in 2023 and loves to teach pullovers and hand out stickers!

Buckeye Coach
Lindsey was a gymnast for 13 years at various gyms. She also competed for her high school team in Strongsville. Lindsey has been coaching gymnastics for about 3 years and has been with Buckeye since May 2021. Her previous coaching experience comes by way of the Strongsville Rec Center. She teaches rec, preschool, TNT, and warrior classes here at Buckeye!

Stephanie was a gymnast at Buckeye for 15 years and has been coaching for about a decade. She was originally hired in 2010, and just started back up again in 2022. Her favorite skill to teach is swivel hips on trampoline!

Buckeye Coach
Nikia was a competitive gymnast right up until she started coaching in 2021. She has competed at Worthington Youth Boosters, Vision Athletics, and for Hilliard Davidson High School. Nikia is currently studying exercise science and recreational therapy. She loves gymnastics and working with kids, and she loves teaching front and back handsprings!

Kristen grew up doing gymnastics and cheerleading is Fishers, Indiana. Bars was her favorite event in gymnastics while stunting was her favorite in cheer. In the end Kristen stuck with cheerleading and she competed in multiple National Championships and her team won Level UCA Large Senior 4 Nationals in 2010. She always knew her passion was in coaching and helping the next generation fuel their passion for the sport. She is entering her third season coaching Buckeye Cheer Stars in Powell and continues to use her love for the sport to inspire young cheerleaders to not only grow into better athletes but into better people overall.

Coach Ryann was a competitive gymnast for basically her whole life, 18 years. While a member of Buckeye’s competition team, Ryann was the recipient of the Circle of Stars Invitational scholarship. Ryann became a coach because she feels that gymnastics taught her so much both inside and outside the gym and she wants to do the same thing for the athletes she coaches. In addition to coaching rec, TNT, and TFC classes here at Buckeye, Ryann is also a student at The Ohio State University.

Buckeye Coach
Bri competed with Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy, and later tumbled at Midwest Cheer Elite. While attending the Ohio State University, Bri joined the recreational gymnastics team and trampoline and tumbling team, and received a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Bri has coached at a few gyms in Columbus and San Francisco for a total of four years. She has been with Buckeye since Autumn of 2016, where she is a Director in Training, teaches rec classes, and coaches the Scarlet and Grey team.

Kadyn S.
Girls Team Coach
Kadyn has been a gymnast since she was 2 years old and is a current Buckeye Level 9 gymnast and the 2022 Level 9 Easterns Nationals Uneven Bars Champion. She joined our coaching staff in 2022. We are excited to have Kadyn as a coach and mentor for our youngest team gymnasts! Kadyn enjoys spending time in the gym and making lifelong friends in gymnastics. She enjoys the challenges and the rewards of sport, and her goal is to compete in college.

Director, Buckeye Gymnastics, Westerville
Scott is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Sports Promotions. While at West Virginia Scott was a scholarship gymnast on the Mountaineer’s Men’s Team. Scott has over 35 years of coaching experience ranging from coaching college at West Virginia University and UC-Berkeley to 9 years here at Buckeye Gymnastics and 15 years spent coaching in California. He was a member of the So Cal USAG Board of Directors for a number of years while in CA. He is currently coaching S&G and USAG Girls team, and is the Scarlet and Grey Team Director and Operations Manager at Buckeye Gymnastics.

Buckeye Coach
Bo basically grew up at Buckeye Gymnastics. She has been helping with camps and classes for over a decade. Bo did a year of gymnastics classes and did competitive cheerleading for 5 years. Bo has a Master’s degree in Social Work and will pursue social work as a career, but her heart will always be here at Buckeye!

Taylor is a former Buckeye gymnast who won floor at L9 Easterns, as well as competing for Eastern Michigan from 2013 until 2015. Taylor graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2017 with a BA in Communications and a minor is psychology. Taylor coached Buckeye’s Level 1 and Level 2’s prior to leaving for college and has expanded her coaching experience by coaching pre-team through Level 7 at Champion Gymnastics in Ann Arbor.

Michelle grew up in a gym in Indiana before starting her coaching and judging passions. Michelle has been married 32 years. She has two adult children who are married and one grand baby on the way! During her free time Michelle enjoys golfing, ice hockey, bowling, curling, volleyball, dancing, and staying active!

Melanie has been enrolled in gymnastics classes for 13 years at the Powell location, and still participates in Gym Stars to this day! In 2022, it was a no-brainer for her to start working here. She loves coaching preschool classes to share her love of gymnastics with the little ones. Mel has also been a member of her high school gymnastics team at Worthington Kilbourne High School.

Buckeye Coach
Coach Paige has been a Buckeye coach for 2 years now and enjoys coaching our summer camps! She was a gymnast for 8 years at Buckeye and because of her love for the sport, returned to coach. Paige attends Ohio Wesleyan University where she is majoring in psychology. She teaches summer camps, rec, and preschool classes.
