34 gymnasts competed in the 2012 Nastia Luikin Cup at Madison Square Garden, New York, last Friday. All 34 had won a major competition in the Cup Series in order to qualify to be there. Nastia was there and so were the television cameras. And through it all Nia's confidence increased and her performance improved and her scores went up with each event.
9.15 (br), 9.35 (bm), 9.50 (f), 9.55 (v).
5th place in the all around against 33 other champions.
Congratulations Nia!

Check out our posting on Kidslinked. Recent reseach has confirmed that children tested in basic fitness a decade ago were faster and stronger than 95% of children today. In just ten years! Too much time in front of computer and TV screens have turned our kids into weaklings even if they maintain a "normal" weight (an increasingly rare achievement). Buckeye Gymnastics can help. We are FUN fitness.

The Buckeye Classic was a huge success in every way. Over 2200 gymnasts from across the Eastern USA and Canada made for three days of gymnastics heaven. And NIA WON THE MEET and she is on her way to compete in Madison Square Garden on March 2, in New York City in the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup which is expected to be broadcast by Universal Sports. There is more news coming. But enjoy this photo of Nia taken on Saturday night while she was on her way to a 38.775 in the all-around. We think this is the all-time highest all-around score ever achieved by a Buckeye gymnast. Congratulations Nia!

Nia won the meet with the highest All Around of all the girls in the competition. In addition she also won a special award for the highest score on any event and yet another for having the highest score for a gymnast younger than 13. Nia qualified for finals in every event and is joined by Olivia (vault) and Katie (bars). Buckeye also won the bronze medal in the team competition. Great job girls!
